Description

The debut album, Pine So Sweet, features 'sparse, haunted folk' compositions.  Driven equally by compelling songwriting and mesmerizing vocals, the songs also combine traditional folk or rock instruments (electric and acoustic guitars, drums, bass, and piano) with the less traditional addition of glockenspiel, Rhodes, finger snaps and hand claps, whistling, and eerie slide guitar. The song 'Paper Leaves,' which was recorded on the back porch of the recording studio, includes the natural sounds of wind, birds, and leaves, as well as well-timed ambulance sirens.  'Paper Leaves' received honors as the Sepiachord Song of the Day in October 2008.

The Pine So Sweet EP was produced by Joey Lemon in Chicago, IL (Berry, Samantha Crain, Caleb Engstrom), and features the members of Berry (Joey Lemon, Matt Aufrecht, and Paul Goodenough), and Lindsey Czechowicz.

Hailing from the rural background of Southern Illinois, Morgan began performing solo and also playing bass and singing background vocals with The Great Lakes in St. Louis in 2007.  Prior to that, Morgan performed with St. Louis-based band Jonas Lyn.  Beth Bombara (Eyeteeth Records) began accompanying Morgan in June of 2008, contributing background vocals, keys, percussion, and lead guitar among many other musical talents.
